Project Overview
The Garden Grove to Santa Ana Rail Trail project, undertaken by the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), is a significant development to enhance connectivity and promote sustainable transportation within the community. This project will provide a safe, accessible, and scenic route for pedestrians and cyclists, contributing to the overall well-being and mobility of the residents. The trail will link key areas, fostering a healthier, more connected community.
Project Description
Coast Surveying, Inc. prepared topographic mapping and performed a design survey for OCTA’s Garden Grove to Santa Ana Rail Trail project. The survey encompassed a comprehensive range of features, including roadways, pavement markers and striping, curbs and gutters, buildings, vegetation, signs, lighting, signals, above-ground utilities, manholes, drainage inlets, and other visible elements. Coast Surveying, Inc. verified the survey results and converted them to CADD format and ASCII point files. Additionally, Coast Surveying, Inc. surveyed geotechnical boring locations as necessary.
The survey was based on the Orange County version of the NAD-83 horizontal and the NAVD88 vertical datum, with measurements tied to the nearest recorded benchmark system to ensure alignment with the local municipal datum. Coast Surveying, Inc. also researched public records for maps and available evidence to define the project limits and property lines. Furthermore, new stereo aerial photography, aerial topography, and ortho imagery were provided for the project area.
